The Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed center Alex Dostie to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).
Dostie, 19 (4/13/97), appeared in his fourth Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) season, earning 30-41=71 points with 12 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +10 rating between the Gatineau Olympiques and Charlottetown Islanders. The Drummondville, Quebec native scored 15-21=36 points in 32 games with Gatineau before being acquired by Charlottetown on Jan. 5, 2017 where he then collected 15-20=35 points with a +22 rating in 31 games. In 13 playoff contests with the Islanders, the 5-10, 165-pound center earned 8-8=16 points with 13 PIM and a +2 rating.
Selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Dostie has collected 86-137=223 points with 58 PIM and a +55 rating in 233 games between Charlottetown (2017) and Gatineau (2013-17). Dostie also earned 14-14=28 points with 23 PIM and a +4 rating in 34 career QMJHL contests.
