GAME PREVIEW: San Diego and Bakersfield Face Off in Eighth Matchup of the Season (7:00p.m.)

The Gulls and Condors battled it out in San Diego just last week (Feb. 10), a contest resulting in a 4-2 Bakersfield victory. Tonight, the Gulls will face the Condors for the eighth time this season, a road contest at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. Bakersfield currently leads the season series between the two clubs, 5-2.

In that previous matchup, Bakersfield opened scoring just 54 seconds into the game, a goal by defenseman Brad Hunt. They followed up with a second goal just under 10 minutes later, this time by winger Rob Klinkhammer to head to the locker room up by two at the first intermission.

San Diego came back swinging in the middle frame, netting back-to-back goals. The first by center Antoine Laganiere and the second by center Chris Mueller to tie it up at two.

Klinkhammer notched his second of the night, a third-period goal with just 3:38 left on the clock to put the Condors back up by one. Matthew Ford tallied the final goal of the game, an empty netter at 19:42 to settle the score at 4-2.

The Gulls and Condors will meet five more times in the regular season (including tonight). Two of these contests will be held at Rabobank Arena and three will be at Valley View Casino Center. San Diego enters tonight’s contest with a season record of 23-20-1-2 (48 points) and Bakersfield with a record of 23-18-2-2 (50 points).
