GULLS FACE BARRACUDA FOR FIRST TIME AT HOME THIS SEASON

November 13, 2015

GAME PREVIEW: Gulls Continue Military Appreciation Week As They Face The Barracuda for the First Time at Home This Season (7:05 p.m.).

San Diego continues its three-game home stand, tonight vs. the San Jose Barracuda (AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks in the first of back-to-back games). San Diego is 9-2-0-0 (18 points) after a 6-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors on Wednesday night.

The Gulls and Barracuda (3-6-0-1; 7 points) have met three times at SAP Center in San Jose, CA, prior to tonight’s matchup at Valley View Casino Center. Their last faceoff was Saturday, Nov. 7, at SAP Center where San Diego took the game 3-2 in regulation.

On Saturday, San Diego center Michael Sgarbossa led off scoring for the Gulls, with his first goal of the season, at 8:15 of the first period on a rebound off the left pad of Barracuda goaltender Troy Grosenick. Sgarbossa notched his second of the game, and season, with 33 seconds left in the first frame.

After a quiet second period, Gulls right wing Brian McGrattan was sent to the box for four minutes; two for goaltender interference and two for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Gulls killed the full four minutes of penalties but Barracuda forward Barclays Goodrow connected after the penalties ended, bringing San Jose within one entering the final frame.

With 7:41 left in the game, Barracuda forward Nikita Jevpalovs scored, tying the game at two.

Joseph Cramarossa received a pass from Antoine Laganiere just inside the blue line with 5:04 remaining in regulation, netting his first goal of the season and giving San Diego a 3-2 lead and the victory.

San Diego and San Jose will meet nine more times this season (including tonight). Three of these contests will be held at SAP Center in San Jose, CA, and six at Valley View Casino Center.
