GAME PREVIEW: Gulls Face Condors for Fourth Matchup of the Season and Second in Bakersfield (7:00 p.m.) – Gulls Lead Season Series 2-1.

The Gulls are back on the road to face the Bakersfield Condors (AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers) tonight at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. San Diego is 11-7-0-1 (23 points) after back-to-back victories over the Ontario Reign last weekend.

The Gulls and Condors (8-9-0-1; 17 points) last met on Nov. 11 at Valley View Casino Center, a 6-1 Gulls win.

The last matchup started out physical with Gulls defenseman Stu Bickel dropping the gloves with Condors winger Mitch Moroz early in the opening frame. Gulls center Joseph Cramarossa maintained the energy by scoring the opening goal of the game just 1:27 later. November’s CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month Brandon Montour was next to tally one for the Gulls at 8:28 of the first period. San Diego defenseman Shane O’Brien continued the physicality of the contest, fightingJujhar Khaira shortly thereafter. The Gulls increased their lead to three with a goal by Harry Zolnierczyk just 16:29 into the game.

The intensity continued through the second period with Montour netting his second goal of the game, bringing the score to 4-0.

Antoine Laganiere added the Gulls fifth goal of the game at 7:46 of the third period. Bakersfield got on the board with 3:09 remaining in the game to avoid the shutout with a goal from defenseman David Musil. Gulls right wing Matt Bailey finished it off with the final goal, closing it out with a score of 6-1.

During the victory, Gulls goaltender John Gibson stopped 30-of-31 shots faced.

San Diego and Bakersfield will meet nine more times this season (including tonight). Five of these contests will be held at Rabobank Arena and four at Valley View Casino Center.
