The Gulls make a quick trip up the I-15 freeway to visit the Ontario Reign before heading back down to San Diego to face the Texas Stars tomorrow night.

The Gulls and Reign last matched up at Valley View Casino Center on Dec. 26. In that meeting, winger Nic Kerdiles opened scoring at 4:54 of the first period on the Gulls power play. Ontario answered back to tie the game at one as forward Justin Auger notched the Reign’s solo goal halfway through the opening frame.

Chris Mueller netted the Gulls’ game winning goal at 15:23 in the second period.

Gulls center Mike Sgarbossa stretched the lead to two 6:49 into the final frame. Shortly thereafter, Ontario’s Kurtis MacDermid was sent off with a match penalty for a check to the head of San Diego center Matt Bailey with 11:56 remaining in the third period. The league later announced a 12-game suspension for MacDermid as a result.

Down by two, Ontario pulled Peter Budaj from goal. Center Joseph Cramarossa took advantage scoring an empty-net goal to conclude scoring at 18:15.
