GAME PREVIEW: Gulls Face Ontario Reign for First Regular-Season Contest at Citizens Business Bank Arena (7:00 p.m.).

The San Diego Gulls and Ontario Reign (AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings) will meet for the first time in the regular season tonight at Citizens Business Bank Arena. The Gulls and Reign met twice during the 2015 preseason, a home-and-home series with contests on Oct. 2 at Citizens Business Bank Arena and Oct. 5 at Honda Center, both Gulls victories.

The preseason opener on Oct. 2 ended in a Gulls shootout victory. Gulls right wing Bryan Moore opened scoring at the 2:45 mark of the first period. San Diego’s Harry Zolnierczyk added a power play goal at 5:22 of the second. Ontario tallied two to tie it up and force the game into overtime. After a scoreless 3-on-3 overtime period, forward Ondrej Kase notched a shootout goal to give the Gulls a 3-2 victory. Goaltender Matt Hackett made 30 saves and stopped 3-of-3 shootout attempts.

The Gulls and Reign met again on Oct. 5 at Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. Gulls center Chris Mueller opened scoring, notching his first goal of the 2015 preseason. Ontario quickly answered back and tied the game at one. The Gulls notched their second goal of the game at 7:13 of the second period, with a goal by defenseman Shea Theodore to make it 2-1. The Gulls followed with goals from Nick Ritchie, Brian McGrattan and Stefan Noesen to clinch a 5-3 San Diego victory.

San Diego is coming off of a 3-2 overtime victory against the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday night. With the win, the Gulls extended their home win streak to five games and their overall record to 7-1-0-0 (14 points).

The Gulls and Reign will meet 12 times this season (including tonight). Six of these contests will be held at Valley View Casino Center and six will take place at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. The Reign are 5-1-2-0 with 12 points on the season thus far.
