GAME PREVIEW: The Gulls Head to Texas and Kick Off Three-Game Divisional Road Trip, Starting With the Stars Tonight (5:00p.m.)

The Gulls embark on their first Texas road trip this week for one contest vs. the Texas Stars, followed by two contests vs. the San Antonio Rampage.

The Gulls and Stars have met just one time before, a faceoff on November 25 at Valley View Casino Center, where Texas walked away with a 5-3 victory despite a third period run by the Gulls.

The final frame began with the Gulls trailing 4-0. Center Mike Sgarbossa netted San Diego’s first goal of the game to avoid the shutout at 2:47 of the period. Joseph Cramarossa followed up with a goal at 3:56. Defenseman Brandon Montour made a diving shot to shrink the deficit to just one goal with 12:57 left to play, however, Texas captain Travis Morin sealed the final count scoring the Stars’ fifth goal of the game.

Entering this evening’s faceoff, the Gulls are 15-11-0-1 (31 points). The Stars have a season record of 16-13-2-2 (36 points).

The Gulls and Stars will meet five more times in the regular season (including tonight). Three of these contests will be held at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, TX, and two will be at Valley View Casino Center.
