The Gulls have signed left wing Greger Hanson and right wing Kyle Thomas to one-year contracts through the 2017-18 AHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed left wing Greger Hanson to a one-year contract through the 2017-18 AHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Hanson, 29 (2/17/88), spent the majority of last season with the Allen Americans of the ECHL, earning 35-41=76 points with a +18 rating and 28 PIM in 58 games, leading the club in goals and power play goals (14), and ranking second in points and assists. Among ECHL leaders, he ranked tied for second in power play goals, tied for third in points-per game (1.31) and tied for fourth in goals. The 5-10, 185-pound forward tallied 3-5=8 points with 12 PIM in 11 Kelly Cup Playoff games.

The Lidingo, Sweden native appeared in five games with San Diego in 2016-17, collecting 1-2=3 points with a +2 rating and two PIM after signing a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO) with the Gulls on Jan. 11. In 12 combined AHL contests with San Diego, the Chicago Wolves, Binghamton Senators, and Charlotte Checkers last season, Hanson earned 1-2=3 points with 11 PIM.

Hanson has appeared in a combined 50 career AHL contests, collecting 5-7=12 points with a +5 rating and 44 PIM with San Diego, Chicago, Binghamton, Charlotte, Utica Comets, San Jose Barracuda, Oklahoma City Barons and Worcester Sharks. He has also scored 78-97=175 points with a +59 rating and 158 PIM in 151 career ECHL games with Allen, the Cincinnati Cyclones and Greenville Road Warriors, while also recording 30-30=60 points with 44 PIM in 59 career Kelly Cup Playoff contests. Hanson helped lead Allen to back-to-back Kelly Cup championships in 2015 and 2016, and was named the Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP in 2015 after scoring 12-17=29 points in 25 postseason games.

Thomas, 27 (1/31/90), split last season between the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) and the Fort Wayne Komets (ECHL). He made his AHL debut with Cleveland in 2016-17, recording 1-1=2 points with four penalty minutes (PIM) in 12 games. The 6-0, 192-pound forward spent the majority of last season with Fort Wayne, setting career highs in numerous offensive categories, including points (27-42=69), goals (27), assists (42), plus/minus (+19) and PIM (63) in 58 games. He co-led the Komets with 10 power play goals, and ranked second in points and goals, and third in assists and plus/minus. In 10 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Fort Wayne, Thomas tallied 4-4=8 points with eight PIM, ranking second on the club in points.

The Waltham, Mass. native has appeared in 149 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne (2015-17), Quad City (2014-15) and Reading (2013-14), collecting 45-71=116 points with a +27 rating and 130 PIM. He also earned 7-9=16 points with 16 PIM in 26 career Kelly Cup playoff contests. Thomas also scored 9-8=17 points with 18 PIM in 24 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2014-15.

Thomas played four seasons at Norwich University (ECAC, Division III) from 2009-13, collecting 68-58=126 points with 104 PIM in 114 games, and helped lead the Cadets to the 2010 Division III national championship.
