GULLS RECALL AUSTEN BRASSARD FROM UTAH

The Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has recalled right wing Austen Brassard from the Utah Grizzlies, San Diego’s primary affiliate in the ECHL.

Brassard, 24 (1/14/93), collected 2-2=4 points with 13 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +1 rating in 20 appearances with San Diego this season. The 6-2, 207-pound forward signed a one-year contract with San Diego on Nov. 29. The Toronto, Ontario native made 39 appearances with Utah this season, collecting 9-20=29 points with 45 PIM. Brassard also co-led the Grizzlies with 2-2=4 points in five Kelly Cup Playoffs games. Originally selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Brassard has appeared in 199 career AHL contests, collecting 26-37=63 points with 147 PIM.
