The Gulls announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have assigned right wing Deven Sideroff to San Diego, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Gulls have signed center Tyler Soy to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).
Sideroff, 19 (4/14/97), made his professional debut with San Diego last season, going scoreless in one game on Apr. 16, 2016 vs. Ontario. Selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (84th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Sideroff appeared in 67 games with the Kamloops Blazers (Western Hockey League) this season, recording 36-42-78 points with 49 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +26 rating. The 6-0, 175-pound winger has collected 75-112=187 points with 108 PIM and a +48 rating in 208 career WHL games. The Kamloops, B.C. native also won bronze with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF Under-18 World Junior Championship, scoring 3-1=4 points with 12 PIM.
Soy, 20 (2/10/97), recorded 25-30=55 points with 15 PIM and a +26 rating in 44 games with the Victoria Royals of the WHL. Selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the seventh round (205th overall) of the 2016 draft, the Richmond, B.C. native spent the past four seasons with Victoria, earning 115-120=235 points with 86 PIIM and a +84 rating in 257 games. The 5-11, 172-pound center set Victoria’s club record for goals in a career (115), and in 2015-16 ranked second in goals among WHL leaders (46) and set a then Royals’ record for most goals scored in a season.
