GAME PREVIEW: San Diego and Bakersfield Match Up for the Eleventh Time This Season (7:05p.m.)

The Gulls and Condors matched up twice last week, once on the road and once at home, both ending in overtime victories for San Diego. Tonight, the Gulls will face the Condors for the eleventh time this season. The Gulls are currently 5-5-0-0 against Bakersfield.

In their latest meeting on Friday, March 11, both teams exchanged goals through the entirety of regulation.

Bakersfield opened scoring with a goal from Anton Slepyshev at 3:05 of the first period. Ondrej Kase was the first to score for San Diego at 5:29. The Condors netted back-to-back goals from forwards Marc-Oliver Roy and Ryan Hamilton. Defenseman Shea Theodore tallied the second San Diego Goal to bring the Gulls back within one. Jujhar Khaira stretched the Bakersfield lead back to two at 14:26, but Chris Wagner answered back to send San Diego to the locker room down by one.

Chris Mueller scored on a Gulls power play to tie the game less than a minute into the second frame. Bakersfield’s Tyler Pitlick scored at 11:34 followed by San Diego’s Harry Zolnierczyk at 17:13 to send both teams back to the locker room tied at five.

Neither club could find the back of the net in the final frame of regulation, forcing an overtime decision.

Three minutes and twenty seconds into the extra time, Gulls center Chris Wagner netted the game winning goal and his second of the night.

Total shots for the game favored the Gulls, 36-35.

The Gulls and Condors will meet just two more times in the regular season (including tonight). Both remaining contests will be held at Valley View Casino Center. San Diego enters tonight’s contest with a season record of 32-20-2-2 (68 points) and Bakersfield with a record of 26-22-5-2 (59 points).
