Anaheim Ducks To Select 10th And 22nd Overall At 2022 NHL Entry Draft

Jul 5, 2022

The Anaheim Ducks currently own eight picks (two first-round selections) in the 2022 NHL Draft, which will be held at Bell Centre in Montreal over a two-day span. Round 1 will take place on Thursday, July 7, with coverage starting at 3 p.m. PT (ESPN, ESPN+) followed by Rounds 2-7 on Friday, July 8 beginning at 8 a.m. PT (NHL Network, ESPN+).

With the 10th and 22nd overall sections (Boston’s first-round pick acquired Mar. 19), the Ducks enter the 2022 NHL Draft with multiple first-round picks in three of the last four drafts (2019, 2020, 2022), following last year’s selection of Mason McTavish (third overall), in addition to 2020 selections Jamie Drysdale (sixth overall) and Jacob Perreault (27th overall), and 2019 picks Trevor Zegras (ninth overall) and Brayden Tracey (29th overall). Anaheim and Buffalo (2019, 2021, 2022) are the only two NHL clubs with multiple first round selections in three of the last four drafts.

The 2022 NHL Draft will mark the 14th time the Ducks select in the top-10 in franchise history, and also marks the first time Anaheim will have two selections in the top-22 of the draft. The Ducks also own four selections in the first two rounds in the 2022 NHL Draft (10th, 22nd, 42nd and 53rd).

Anaheim has made 33 selections in the first round in franchise history, with each of the last 17 choices (since 2009) making their NHL debut with the Ducks. Of Anaheim’s 33 all-time first-round picks, 31 have appeared in the NHL (30 with the Ducks).

The top ranked prospects by NHL Central Scouting include center Shane Wright (Kingston, OHL), center Logan Cooley (USNTDP), left wing Cutter Gauthier (USNTDP), center Matthew Savoie (Winnipeg, WHL), center Conor Geekie (Winnipeg, WHL), defenseman Pavel Mintyukov (Saginaw, OHL), left wing Juraj Slafkovsky (TPS, Finland), right wing Joakim Kemell (JYP, Finland), defenseman Simon Nemec (Nitra, Slovakia) and defenseman David Jiricek (Plzen, Czechia).
