Welcome to the Reading is the Goal Headquarters

Reading is the Goal is a free program open only to elementary school grade classrooms in the Greater San Diego Area. We coordinate directly with school district leadership, principals and teachers to encourage classrooms to sign up and participate. Teachers or principals must sign up their classrooms at the link below.       

The submission form for final totals will open on January 25, 2027, and close on February 12, 2027. 

Please note: Final participation numbers will no longer be accepted via email. All totals must be submitted through the online form. 

    

Each participating classroom will receive a minimum of three new books for their classroom and monthly read along videos with their favorite Gulls players.     

    

Students in each participating classroom will receive a take home reading log and an exciting Gulls prize pack upon completion of the program. This year’s program will begin on Monday, November 2nd, 2026, and end on Friday, February 5, 2027.       

    

During this time, participants should make reading their goal by filling up their reading logs as much as they can.   

 

NEW FOR 2026–27! 
Due to school district email firewalls, some teachers have not been receiving our email messages. To ensure everyone stays informed, all teachers must check back monthly to access the “Read Along” videos and to track their participation by recording total minutes read and number of reading logs.     

    

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

• November 2, 2026 - Program Begins.       

• January 25, 2027 - Teachers can begin to submit their participation numbers to the online form.     

• February 12, 2027 - Last day for teacher to submit student reading times.
