The San Diego Gulls shut out the Abbotsford Canucks for the third time this season tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego, 1-0.

The win tonight marks the first time in all Gulls AHL history that the team has won a regular season game 1-0.

"That's impressive," head coach Matt McIlvane said. "My old mentor coach always used to say: ‘you prepare to win every game one to nothing.’ So, the whole mentality behind it is, you defend like crazy, and you know you're going to get one, but it's a team mentality that we were able to show today."

The win marks Calle Clang’s seventh of the season and his second career shutout, his first being in the Gulls’ last match against the Canucks. Since December 1, he co-leads in shutouts (2), ranks third in GAA (1.77) and SV% (.929) and is tied for fourth in wins among all AHL goaltenders (min. three appearances).

Sasha Pastujov found the first and only goal of the night from Jan Mysak who showed off some skill to complete the pass. Pastujov and Mysak have found chemistry on their line together all season long. Pastujov is now in the leading spot for all Gulls skaters in points this season with 9-18=27. Mysak’s assist put him at 7-11=18 points and broke a five-game point drought.

"Jan, he's my guy," Pastujov said. "We've had really good chemistry on and off the ice, and again, really easy to play with. He's so, so good in all three zones and I'm just super, super grateful to play with two really good players."

Tristan Luneau competed in his 100th career AHL contest. The defenseman has posted 13-53=66 points in his 100 games played.

The Gulls will finish the week out tomorrow night as they face off against the Coachella Valley Firebirds for Native American Heritage Night brought to you by Viejas Casino & Resort at Pechanga Arena San Diego (6 p.m. PST).
