Salute to Our Heritage
Introducing our newest jersey for the 2025-26 AHL season, we are welcoming back an iconic figure from the Gulls' past with a twist for modern day. Sandy the Gull makes his triumphant return to the spotlight after being introduced as the San Diego Gulls mascot in 1966.
Our 10-Year Anniversary jersey celebrates the past but stays true to the present. Our 10-Year logo patch sits above the circular crest showing our tenure as an American Hockey League Club in San Diego. The circular crest on the front of the jersey features a modernized version of the original Sandy the Gull logo. Orange is the primary color for this jersey as a way to highlight the bright new jerseys and pay homage to the beautiful San Diego Sunsets.

Honoring Our City's Hockey History
San Diego holds a rich hockey history stemming back to the 1940s. Below, we have outlined some of the most important years for hockey in San Diego
This includes three key dates:

1944 - Professional hockey made its debut in America’s Finest City with the Pacific Coast Hockey League’s (PCHL) San Diego Skyhawks

1966 - The Gulls name is established after San Diego is awarded a franchise in the Western Hockey League (WHL), playing for the first time at the San Diego Sports Arena

2015 - The Gulls returned to San Diego with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Pacific Division expansion, as the Anaheim Ducks purchased and relocated their AHL affiliate from Norfolk, Va. to San Diego
