Anaheim Ducks To Select 10th At 2022 NHL Draft

The Anaheim Ducks drew the 10th overall selection for the 2022 NHL Draft as part of tonight’s 2022 NHL Draft Lottery held in Secaucus, N.J. The results of the Draft Lottery were revealed live by ESPN during a 30-minute show this evening. The Ducks came out of a field of 16 clubs vying for the No. 1 overall pick.
 
The top ranked prospects by NHL Central Scouting include center Shane Wright (Kingston, OHL), center Logan Cooley (USNTDP), left wing Cutter Gauthier (USNTDP), center Matthew Savoie (Winnipeg, WHL), center Conor Geekie (Winnipeg, WHL), defenseman Pavel Mintyukov (Saginaw, OHL), left wing Juraj Slafkovsky (TPS, Finland), right wing Joakim Kemell (JYP, Finland), defenseman Simon Nemec (Nitra, Slovakia) and defenseman David Jiricek (Plzen, Czechia).
 
Anaheim currently owns eight picks (two first-round selections) in the 2022 NHL Draft, which will be held in Montreal over two days. Round 1 will take place on Thursday, July 7, followed by Rounds 2-7 on Friday, July 8. 

With the 10th overall selection and Boston’s first-round pick (acquired Mar. 19), the Ducks enter the 2022 NHL Draft with multiple first-round picks in three of the previous four drafts (2019, 2020, 2022), following last year’s selection of Mason McTavish (third overall), in addition to 2020 selections Jamie Drysdale (sixth overall) and Jacob Perreault (27th overall), and 2019 picks Trevor Zegras (ninth overall) and Brayden Tracey (29th overall). 

Anaheim has made 33 selections in the first round in franchise history, with each of the last 17 choices (since 2009) making their NHL debut with the Ducks. Of Anaheim’s 33 all-time first-round picks, 31 have appeared in the NHL (30 with the Ducks).
