Ducks Assign Kevin Boyle to San DiegoMar 1, 2019
The Anaheim Ducks have reassigned goaltender Kevin Boyle to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Boyle, 26 (5/30/92), appeared in five games with the Ducks this season, posting a 1-3-0 record with a 2.17 goals-against average (GAA) and a .928 save percentage (SV%) with one shutout. On Feb. 13 vs. Vancouver, Boyle joined John Gibson as the only two Anaheim goaltenders to record a shutout in his first NHL start. Boyle has gone 19-7-1 with a 2.72 GAA and .909 SV% in 30 games this season with San Diego. The AHL All-Star returns to the Gulls ranked tied for sixth among league goaltenders in wins and has won 14 of his last 17 starts (14-2-1, 2.30 GAA, .917 SV%).
Signed as a free agent on Mar. 30, 2016, Boyle has posted a 48-25-7 record with two shutouts, a 2.59 GAA and .918 SV% in 84 career AHL games with San Diego. The 6-1, 197-pound goaltender finished the 2017-18 AHL season ranked second among rookie goaltenders in SV% (.921), fifth in wins (19) and sixth in GAA (2.66).
