Ducks Recall Larsson and Steel

The Anaheim Ducks have recalled center Sam Steel and defenseman Jacob Larsson from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Steel, 21 (2/3/98), has collected 1-2=3 points in 14 games with the Ducks this season. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (30th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Steel made his NHL debut on Oct. 3, 2018 at San Jose and scored his first career NHL goal on Oct. 21, 2018 vs. Buffalo.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, the 5-11, 186-pound center earned 17-17=34 points in 45 games with San Diego this season. At the time of his recall, Steel led Gulls rookies in goals, and ranked second in points and assists.

Larsson, 21 (4/29/97) has 0-2=2 points in 38 games with the Ducks this season. Selected in the first round (27th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Larsson owns 0-2=2 points in 42 career NHL games with Anaheim.

Larsson has appeared in 19 games with San Diego in 2018-19, recording five assists (0-5=5) with a +3 rating. The 6-2, 197-pound defenseman has 3-20=23 points with a +9 rating and 32 penalty minutes in 73 career AHL games with the Gulls.
