The 2025-26 season comes to a close for the San Diego Gulls as they were eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs after falling to the Colorado Eagles tonight at Blue Arena, 6-1.

Goaltender Damian Clara once again played an essential role in keeping the game within reach tonight. Clara saved 25-of-30 shots, totaling a 3.70 GAA and .875 SV% in the two-game playoff run.

San Diego found their first and only goal of the postseason to tie it up in the opening frame. The goal was netted by Sasha Pastujov for his first AHL career playoff goal after leading all Gulls skaters in points during the regular season. Defensemen Noah Warren and Nikolas Brouillard worked together to get the puck to Pastujov, tallying the assists.

The second period went scoreless at both ends. San Diego was able to find more offensive time, putting up 12 shots on goal while holding Colorado to seven. The first penalties of the night were called, but neither team was able to capitalize on their power play.

The final frame sealed the deal for Colorado with two regular, a power play, and empty net goal.

Despite an early playoff exit, the Gulls leave this season with the most success they have seen in years. It was a season full of grit, determination, and perseverance that will be carried into years ahead.

See you next season Gulls fans.
