The San Diego Gulls fell to the Iowa Wild 2-1 in overtime tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego.

Calen Addison recorded a multi-point performance (1-1=2) as Iowa came from behind to defeat San Diego for the third time this season.

Brendan Guhle scored the lone goal for San Diego, who sit tied with the Henderson Silver Knights for sixth place in the Pacific Division standings.

Third Period Recap

Connor Dewar evened the game with 1:20 left, sending a point shot past a screened Lukas Dostal for his seventh goal of the season.

Second Period Recap

Dostal kept Iowa off the board, turning away a Brandon Baddock breakaway chance as the period ticked past the six-minute mark.

The left wing found himself behind the Gulls defense and broke in on Dostal, hitting the hash marks before firing a quick wrister on net. The San Diego goaltender gloved it aside, sending the attempt harmlessly to the corner.

First Period Recap

Guhle put the Gulls ahead with 6:46 remaining in the opening frame.

San Diego caught Iowa on a line change, with Guhle leading his team into the offensive zone on an odd-man rush. He found Buddy Robinson in the slot, who quickly sent a backhand pass to rookie Josh Lopina. The center fired a shot Wild netminder Zane McIntyre blocked, but Guhle pounced on the rebound, sending it into the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

Lopina is making his American Hockey League debut after signing his entry-level contract - and an Amateur Tryout - earlier this week. The former UMass center was a fourth-round selection (98th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft.

McIntyre entered tonight at 11-9-2 with one shutout, a 2.57 GAA and .913 SV%. He's lost two of his last three starts, allowing 14 goals while posting three consecutive sub-.900 SV% performances. In two games against the Gulls, McIntyre is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .945 SV%.

Dostal is in net for the Gulls. The Czechia netminder is 16-10-0 with two shutouts, a 2.46 goals-against average (GAA) and .921 save percentage (SV%). He enters tonight riding a personal four-game win streak, posting a 0.81 GAA and .974 SV% over that span.
