Troy Terry Named to AHL All Star GameJan 3, 2019
The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) has named right wing Troy Terry to the 2019 Lexus AHL All-Star Classic presented by MGM Springfield, taking place in Springfield, Mass. from Jan. 27-28. Terry will make his first career All-Star appearance, and be part of a Pacific Division roster that is composed of seven forwards, three defensemen and two goaltenders.
Terry, 21 (9/10/97), currently co-leads all AHL rookies in scoring (12-19=31), assists and game-winning goals (3) in 27 games, while he leads San Diego in points, assists and ranks second in goals. Selected by Anaheim in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Terry began his AHL career with a club record 11-game point streak from Oct. 19-Nov. 23 (7-9=16) and had a four-game goal streak from Nov. 9-21 (4-2=6), the longest goal streak by a Gulls rookie. Terry also had a nine-game point streak from Dec. 8-30 (4-8=12), the only player league-wide to have multiple point streaks of nine games or more this season. He has also collected points in 22 of his 27 games this season.
The 6-1, 178-pound winger began the 2018-19 season with the Ducks, going scoreless in six games, and scored his first career game-deciding goal in a shootout to help lead Anaheim to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 8 at Honda Center. He made his NHL debut last season on Mar. 27, 2018 at Vancouver after spending three seasons at the University of Denver of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
A native of Denver, Colo., Terry represented Team USA at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, recording five assists in five games. He ranked fifth among skaters in the Olympics in assists and second on Team USA in points. He also helped lead Team USA to gold at the 2017 World Junior Championship and Denver to the 2017 NCAA National Championship.
