The San Diego Gulls look to win a second consecutive game tonight when the host the Colorado Eagles at Pechanga Arena San Diego (7 p.m. PT, TV: AHL TV, RADIO: Gulls Audio Network). Tonight is the second night of Military Weekend, and will feature a Bud Light tailgate at the North Entrance, beginning at 5 p.m. PT.
San Diego won its first game of the 2019-20 season last night, skating away with a 5-4 victory over the Eagles. Blake Pietila powered the offense, scoring his first goal of the season and adding two assists. Daniel Sprong recorded his first multi-point game of the season, as eleven skaters found the scoresheet.
Rookie Isac Lundestrom broke a 4-4 tie in the third period, scoring his first professional AHL goal. After dropping a pass to Pietila, the rookie dashed to the far post, deflecting his teammate's pass into the back of the net.
“It was a long time coming,” said Pietila on the win. “But like I said, bounces can go your way and they can not go your way. It was one of those nights where we played a 60-minute game. Every guy contributed today and hopefully we will be able to do the same tomorrow.”
