The San Diego Gulls dropped game two of their back-to-back series against the Colorado Eagles tonight at Blue Arena, 5-1.

San Diego kept it close for a majority of the game, but Colorado was able to gain momentum late to secure the win. The Gulls walk away from this four-game series going 2-2-0-0 against the Eagles.

Sasha Pastujov got San Diego on the board in the second, cutting Colorado’s lead in half as he found his 16th goal of the season. Pastujov has played an essential role in this four-game series, putting up 3-2=5 points. His team-leading point count now stands at 16-29=45, tying his AHL career high set last season. The winger ranks second in all of the AHL in shots on goal with 210.

Stian Solberg tallied his first assist of the series and seventh of the season with the primary on the lone Gulls goal. Justin Bailey picked up his second assist of the series and 15th of the season tonight with the secondary assist on the goal.

Calle Clang was present between the pipes tonight, playing an essential role in keeping the Gulls in the hunt. The goaltender made 37 saves, the second-most he’s made in a game this season.

The Gulls look to regain their momentum as they return to home ice and take on the Bakersfield Condors on Friday, Mar. 20 at Pechanga Arena San Diego (7 p.m. PDT).
