The San Diego Gulls will play their first game of a back-to-back series against the Henderson Silver Knights tonight at The Dollar Tree Arena (7 p.m. PDT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
"Whether we play at home or on the road, we’re ready to play our next game," head coach Matt Mcllvane said.
The Gulls look to redeem themselves as they take on the Silver Knights for the second time this season, following a 4-3 loss on Oct. 18. San Diego’s last game was on Wednesday, where they fell 2-0 to the Colorado Eagles.
Despite the loss on Wednesday, the Gulls put up a tough fight going 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. Goaltender Ville Husso was able to stop 26 of 27 shots, with the second goal being on an empty net.
This weekend will be San Diego’s first road trip of the season and first set of back-to-back games.
"This is going to be our first road trip, and I know there's a lot of players from last year, but it's always good to have a road trip and get the boys together, maybe for dinner or something," defenseman Nikolas Brouillard said. "It gets the boys tighter, I would say."
In the Gulls first matchup against Henderson, Tristan Luneau, Ryan Carpenter, and Judd Caulfield logged goals. This marked Carpenter and Caulfield’s second goals of the season and Luneau’s first. Matthew Phillips, Sasha Patujov, Noah Warren, Tim Washe, and Yegor Sidorov all logged assists. These players look to extend their points for the season tonight.
The second game of the series will be tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
