Gulls Ready For Rematch With the Roadrunners

The San Diego Gulls will once again take on the Tucson Roadrunners tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego (6 p.m. PT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
This will be the third time this season these two teams have met. In their last contest, the Gulls reigned victorious over the Roadrunners 4-2.
San Diego failed to defeat both teams it faced this past weekend, losing to the Coachella Valley Firebirds in its first overtime loss of the season, and to its long-standing rivals, the Ontario Reign, at home.
"We’re disappointed with the results…we’re here to develop and get better as a team, and it feels like we’re doing that without the results," Ryan Carpenter said. "We have to dig deep and find more…and keep building on some of the good we are doing."
This past week marks the final extended period of practice before the Gulls embark on a 10-game-in-17-day slate to start December.
"We take any opportunity we can to practice, same thing with rest," said head coach Matt McIlvane. "Being able to rest, practice, we’ll take any opportunity we can to invest in that."
The Gulls are taking important lessons from their previous losses into these next few weeks.
"It’s the relentless pursuit of excellence and keeping our foot on the gas," McIlvane said. "Keep learning about our group and holes we need to plug."
San Diego will begin their December schedule on the road next week, beginning with a rematch against the San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday night. (7 p.m. PST).
